Director Martin Zied Launches Choir Contest in Conjunction with Crowdfunding Campaign for Human Voice Documentary

The winning choir will perform the song over the film’s closing credits and win $300

Philadelphia, PA - Filmmaker and Emmy-winning producer Martin Zied is making a documentary about the power and beauty of the human voice, Voice Messages. The filmmaking team behind the documentary has announced an open call for submissions in order to select the choir who will be featured prominently in the film, singing the song that plays over the closing credits.

Entering is free and open to any and all non-professional choirs and singing groups around the world. The submission window opens 7/6/16 and ends 7/27/16.

The winning choir will be chosen by a panel of judges including:

Martin Zied (Voice Messages director)
Dr. Tim Sharp (Executive Director of the American Choral Director’s Association and Artistic Director of the Tulsa Oratorio)
Stacy Horn (Author of Imperfect Harmony: Finding Happiness Singing with Others)

Voice Messages—Zied’s debut feature—will combine singing, speaking, science, sociology and history to examine the far-reaching impact of the human voice. Zied has already interviewed a diverse set of experts and performers. These include Grammy-winning recording artists Linda Ronstadt and Take 6; iconic voiceover artist Billy West (The Ren & Stimpy Show, Futurama); vocal special effects wizard Michael Winslow (The Police Academy franchise, Spaceballs); otolaryngologist and chairman of The Voice Foundation Dr. Robert Sataloff; and Anne Karpf, the author of The Human Voice.

The film is currently raising funds on Indiegogo to complete shooting. In exchange for their support, contributors can choose from a variety of rewards to fit any budget, including signed DVDs, limited-edition art prints, high-quality tote bags and more. For those who want an even deeper connection to the documentary, one campaign perk allows backers to record their own voice for inclusion in the film, and other perks allow for special mention in the closing credits of the film. Contributors at nearly every level will receive a voucher for a 60-minute vocal technique webinar of their choice from Vocal Process.
